Spotlight on: Madison

Meet our friend, Madison.

Madison is a kind, funny, and bright 6 year old. She loves to sing, dance, act, make potions, anything arts and crafts related, play with friends and go on vacations! Her favorite place is Great Wolf Lodge and her favorite activity is swimming.

Madison was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and her treatment is 5 months inpatient at Golisano Children’s Hospital before being able to switch to the outpatient clinic. She hopes to break out of 7N by the end of July so she can go on all of her vacations she has missed out on during her treatment. She can’t wait to get to Bounce Hopper and Strong Museum of Play, too!

Madison’s favorite thing about the hospital is that she has her own gift shop!

GRYT Health connects patients and caregivers to others with shared experience and to information relevant to their journey.

Through the GRYT app, we’ve created a platform for people affected by cancer to connect to others with similar experiences, and to tailored information that helps our users become more aware of options specific to their needs or diagnosis – empowering them to make choices that are right for them.

Our community of patients, survivors, medical professionals, researchers and advocates across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 100 countries worldwide have participated in almost 1,000,000 interactions to date, inspiring people to live according to their own standards.

Trust from our community is paramount to our success and something we take very seriously. We never share any of our users’ information without their explicit permission. Unlike other apps, GRYT is the first social community that is funded, built, and run by patients and caregivers where users communicate anonymously in real-time and each person is 100% in charge of what happens with their data.

Make new friends…

We are so grateful for our new friends from Girl Scout Troop 60492! They worked with a fellow Girl Scout, who has first-hand knowledge of what it’s like to be a kid with cancer, to create these Care Kits for Kids with Cancer. Congratulations on earning your Bronze Award, girls, and thank you for thinking of our Kiddos. We think they’re REALLY going to love the Squishmallows!

Eastside Little League Hit a Home Run

with their Hot Dog Day in memory of Amanda Conrow. Held for several years, the crew at Eastside Little League works to have hot dogs donated by Zweigles to raise money for C.U.R.E. This year, they raised $1,602! We are so humbled to be a part of honoring Amanda’s memory. Our community lost Amanda in February 2015. What an honor it is to be included in remembering such a brave little girl. Thank you.

Thank you, Julianne’s Journey

Julianne’s Journey, The Dawgs and Buntsy’s Neighborhood Food & Drink have been so good to our organization and our Families. On June 11th, they worked together to host a concert at Buntsy’s to raise money for C.U.R.E. Thank you for thinking of our families and raising $1,200!! You rock!

Thank you, Captain Ned from Catching Dreams

Thank you, CURE Bears for Hope and Love

A HUGE thank you to our Friends at CURE Bears for Hope and Love for providing Squishmallows to our kiddos at our annual Survivors’ Day Celebration. They were SO excited about receiving these. We appreciate you always thinking of our Children.

Thank you, Mya!

Mya Hayes planned a Girls Basketball Team vs. Faculty/Staff game to benefit C.U.R.E. The Hope Hall Community was so wonderful in generating donations for C.U.R.E. and our Families. Inspired by a past C.U.R.E. Kid, Mya wanted to make a difference to other C.U.R.E. Families. Thank you so much for thinking of us!

Please consider honoring our Little Angels through tending to our Julie Roberts Children’s Memorial Garden. Named in memory of Julie Roberts, our garden memorializes our Friends we have lost too soon. A brick walkway in front of our building is adorned with the names of our angels.

Tending to the garden includes weeding, pruning and watering. Sign up for a week below. You can come any day or time during that week.

At the minimum of a $20 donation to C.U.R.E., an embroidered beanie with the slogan “Only Sunshine Ahead” will be given to a child currently going through treatment at Golisano Children's Hospital (For example, if you donate $40 two beanies will be sent to two different children in bright and beautiful packaging to bring some light to their dark times).
