May 2026 Newsletter
C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association is celebrating 50 years of impact, hope, and walking alongside Families during their most difficult times. As we honor the legacy built by our Founders, Supporters & Families, we’re also preparing for an exciting future. While we take pride in how far we’ve come, we’re even more energized by what’s ahead. Big, exciting things are on the horizon—the next chapter of C.U.R.E. is just the beginning.
Our New Space is official!
It’s official, Friends!
In partnership with the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, we hosted a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at our new space. We are beyond thrilled with our new office location and hope you will all come out and say hello! We will be hosting another open house this summer, so stay tuned for that info!
A huge thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and recognize this monumental achievement for C.U.R.E.
Happy Anniversary, Holly!!
For the past 12 years, Holly has led C.U.R.E. with heart, vision, and an incredible amount of energy, helping our organization grow in both reach and impact, including the exciting expansion into a new building that will provide an even stronger community for the Families we serve. She’s the kind of leader who somehow makes it to every event, checks in on C.U.R.E. Families, and still finds time to support her Team with genuine care and encouragement. Holly is there—always dedicated, always compassionate, and always ready to help in any way she can. And, while her dedication to C.U.R.E. is unmatched, there’s one thing that might come close: her love for Dawson Knox of the Buffalo Bills—honestly, if there were a “most loyal fan” award, she’d probably win that too (and find a way to turn it into a fundraiser). Cheers to 12 years!
Happy 7 Year Anniversary, Michelle!
Seven years ago, Michelle joined the C.U.R.E. family as a Parent Advocate, and we’ve been better for it ever since. 🧡
A 7-year journey in this work requires a special kind of heart. Michelle, thank you for being a constant source of strength and a vital part of the community of support that holds our Families up. You make a difference in ways both big and small, every single day.
Cheers to 7 years of impact!
Be good. Do good. Go Bills! ❤️💙💪
Happy 4 Year Anniversary, Carol!
Dave Matthews once said that if "kindness is your king," everything else falls into place. We see that reflected in Carol’s work every single day. Over the last four years, she has led with compassion, putting our Families first and building a true community of support here at C.U.R.E. Whether it’s implementing new programming, her willingness to lend a hand to anyone on our Team or the compassion she shows our Families, Carol has made such a tremendous difference during her time with us.
Carol, thank you for the heart you pour into our mission. We are so lucky to have you on our team!
Updates from Emma and Laura:
As our Interns’ time with C.U.R.E. comes to a close, the C.U.R.E. Team wants to send a heartfelt thank you for their dedication to our organization this semester. They had the opportunity to participate in many one-time events, especially with our new space. We are so grateful for their positive attitudes and willingness to take on tasks as they arose. Wishing both Emma and Laura all the best in their future endeavors!

Spotlight on: Hunter
Meet our Friend, Hunter!
Hunter is a 1 year old warrior who is taking on Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia one day at a time. He loves running around with his brother and his doggy. Hunter is always happy and full of love. He is just starting to dance to music! When Hunter is in the hospital, he likes to have his blacks to stack them up and up. He loves when his family reads him stories. He also loves going for walks all around in his race car!
When Hunter was diagnosed, our world turned upside down—but his spirit stayed strong. Through chemo, hospital stays, and everything in between, he keeps amazing us with his positivity and his love for books and playtime. We’re so thankful for organizations like C.U.R.E. that help us out as we are all going through this. If sharing his journey helps even one family feel less alone, it’s worth it. He’s proof that hope and love are powerful medicine. Sharing his story to spread awareness and gratitude for research that saves lives.
Congratulations Ayden, Jazzy & Paige!
Sending a huge congratulations to our Friends Ayden, Jazzy and Paige who recently rang the End of Chemo Bell at Golisano Children’s Hospital! C.U.R.E. is so honored to provide the hand held bell that Children who finish treatment ring - both at Golisano Children’s Hospital and at our office. We are so happy for you and are celebrating this special time with you. Hoping you’ll join us at our new office space and will add your Handprints to our Handprints of Hope Wall!

Alongside the meal, Families enjoyed a lively game of bingo, adding a sense of fun and connection to the evening. More than just a dinner, the gathering offered support, laughter, and a reminder that no one is facing these challenges alone.

Thank you for making a splash!
Wow. What an incredible day.
If anyone ever doubted the strength and dedication of this community, they should have seen the starting line on April 25th. Despite the freezing, cold, relentless rain and the less-than-ideal conditions, you showed up with smiles, high spirits, and enough energy to chase away the clouds.
We are so deeply grateful to everyone who braved the cold to participate in our 17th Annual 5k and Fun Walk presented by Cornerstone Wealth Management. Whether you were sprinting for a personal best or strolling through the rain with your family, you made this event truly special.
A Huge Thank You To:
Our Participants: You are the heart of this event. Your resilience and commitment to our cause are inspiring. You proved that nothing—not even a downpour—can stop us when we work together.
Our Sponsors: We cannot do this without you. Thank you for your unwavering support, your contributions, and your belief in our mission. Knowing you are standing behind us makes all the difference, rain or shine.
Our Volunteers: A massive shout-out to the team behind the scenes who managed the course, the hydration stations, and the finish line while soaked to the bone. We couldn't have done it without your hard work.
They say rain is good luck, and if that’s true, we are the luckiest group around. We are already looking forward to next year—and here’s hoping for a little more sunshine!
Thank you for everything.
Roc Knighthawks Fans give back!
Beyond the game, the Rochester Knighthawks fan support creates lasting change. We are honored to announce that the Rochester Knighthawks C.U.R.E. Jersey auction raised $6,147.81 for C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association. This contribution directly fuels critical support for Families battling pediatric cancer. The C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer awareness night is also so important because it shows our Families there is a community of supporters cheering them on and helps us educate the community on the realities of childhood cancer. Thank you for showing up, giving back, and standing with us to fight for a brighter future.

These flowers do more than just beautify the exterior of our garden; they bring a sense of peace and warmth to a place that means so much to us. Thank you, Don and friends, for your thoughtfulness and for helping us create such a nurturing environment for our community to gather and remember. We are deeply touched by your generosity.

Grateful Giving
Grateful Giving is a platform and mobile app that connects individual donors and businesses with nonprofits that need support to carry out their mission.
When you sign up, Grateful Giving allows individuals to automatically donate a portion of their spending to selected charities. It operates through a software platform that connects users with over 1.5 million non-profits, transforming everyday purchases into automated micro-donations to support causes. For individuals, this involves connecting a bank account or credit card to the service, which then sends a small percentage of daily spending to a chosen charity. For businesses, it can be used to give back to customers' favored causes or to make automatic donations for purchases, referrals, and birthdays, with the business paying for the donation as a thank you.
For individuals
Connect your accounts: Link your bank account or credit card to the Grateful Giving platform.
Set up giving: Choose to automatically donate a small percentage of your daily spending to a charity you care about.
Select a charity: Choose from a database of over 1.5 million 501(c)(3) charities.
For businesses

(1) Contact your financial advisor or representative at the financial institution that holds your IRA.
(2) Tell your representative that you wish to make a QCD from your IRA to C.U.R.E.

The transfer is tax-free and is not included in your adjusted gross income (AGI), thus there is no charitable deduction. A transfer is not subject to AGI limitations on charitable deductions. More ways to help:
Hailey and her Family have been saving aluminum can tabs for C.U.R.E. for many years now. The photo is Hailey standing in an oil drum of tabs surrounded by 14 oil drums FILLED with can tabs! They bring the drums to the scrap yard and then donate the proceeds to C.U.R.E. Those proceeds are then applied to the cost of parking vouchers for our Families.
You can bring your can tabs to our office at 200 Westfall Road, 14620 during business hours and we will collect them for Hailey and her Family.
We hope you think of Hailey and her program while you are at family gatherings, picnics and other fun summer activities this summer that may include aluminum cans!
C.U.R.E. has joined the PayPal Giving Fund. Please consider adding us to your account to Shop, Donate and Raise Awareness for our families.
PayPal Giving Fund expands our fundraising reach through direct integration with PayPal, eBay and GoFundMe.
We are so grateful to the community for all of the wonderful donations we receive throughout the year. We could not service all the families we do without this generous support. If you or a community group you belong to is looking for something to do for a charity, please consider donating items from C.U.R.E.’s wish list so that we can continue to provide for our families:
